Overview
The Ad hoc Remote Session is a feature that lets you manage devices across different accounts and domains. If you administer a fleet of devices, you may temporarily add a device that is not currently a member of your fleet, for remote support or remote control, without enrolling the device in your account.
Note! The remote management session can be terminated at any time by the remote user or the administrator.
User Side – Starting an Ad Hoc Session and Obtaining a Session Token
1. The user opens the VISO app on their device and clicks on the three-dot (kebab) menu in the upper right corner. A drop-down menu opens.

2. Click on “Start Ad-Hoc session”. The Session Token window opens, displaying a 9-digit session token.

3. Provide the Session Token number to your device administrator.
Administrator Side – Adding a Remote Device Using an Ad-Hoc Token ID
The administrator now uses the Session Token ID to initiate the remote session.
To start the ad-hoc session:
1. From the Overview Dashboard, click on the Devices Table icon in the menu on the left.

2. The Devices Table opens. At present, there are only 5 devices enrolled in this user’s account.

3. At the top of the Devices Table, you will see the Ad-hoc Session icon. Click on the icon to open the Ad-hoc Session window.

4. Enter the Token ID code provided to you by the user of the remote device, and click on Start.

5. Once the session starts, the user device will be visible in your Devices Table, just like the other devices in your fleet. For example, in the list of devices below, note that the device HA195F3Y has been added in an ad-hoc session. We now see that there are six devices enrolled in this account, whereas previously there had only been five devices.

6. Click on the line of the device that has been added to open up its Device Dashboard. You can apply any command, install apps, control the device remotely, and so on.

Terminating an Ad Hoc Session
There are two ways for the Administrator to terminate the ad-hoc session:
By the Administrator--Method One
1. Click on the Devices icon in the sidebar menu to open the Device Dashboard again.

2. Open up the device’s dashboard by clicking on the device’s listing in the Devices Table.

The Device Dashboard opens.
3. Note the Stop Session button in the list of commands on the right-hand side. Clicking Stop Session will terminate the ad-hoc session.

The device (Device ID HA195F3Y) will no longer appear in the administrator’s Devices Table:

By the Administrator--Method Two
Alternatively, the device administrator can remove the device from their list with the Manage
tile in the menu on the right-hand side.
1. Open up the device’s dashboard by clicking on the device’s listing in the Devices Table, as above.
2. In the menu on the right, click on Manage.
3. In the drop-down menu that opens up, click on Remove Device.

The Remove Device dialog box opens.

4. Click on Yes to end the ad hoc session.
Note: Clicking on Remove Device will unenroll the device from the Radix Device Management Platform entirely. If you use this method to stop an ad hoc remote session, the remote user will have to re-enroll their device again.
By the Remote User
If the user of the remote device wishes to terminate the ad hoc session, they can do it from the three-dot menu in the Viso app.
To terminate the ad hoc session:
1. Tap on the Viso app icon.

2. In the Viso app, click on the kebab menu in the upper right-hand corner:

3. In the drop-down menu, click Start Ad Hoc Session.

Your 9-digit code will appear again.
4. Click on the X in the upper-right corner. This will terminate the ad-hoc session as well.

Now, when the administrator refreshes their list of devices, the ad hoc device will no longer appear:
