After enrolling a device (Android, Windows, or ChromeOS) into your Radix account, it is recommended to perform a few quick actions to confirm that the device is connected and responding to management commands.
In this guide, we will demonstrate a few simple actions that help verify that the device is ready for management:
- Remote control
- Sending a message
- Checking a device setting (Disallow Volume Configuration)
Step 1: Remote Control
Radix supports both attended and unattended remote-control sessions:
- In an attended session, the device user must approve the request before the session begins.
- In an unattended session, the session starts without requiring user confirmation.
Without Requiring User Confirmation
If user approval is not required, the remote-control session opens automatically once initiated.
To start a remote-control session:
1. In the Overview Dashboard, click Devices in the navigation sidebar to open the Devices Table.
2. Use the Search bar to locate the device you want to access.

3. In the device row, click the three-dot menu on the right and select Remote Control.
The remote-control interface will open, allowing you to view and interact with the device in real time.
From here, you can operate the device as if you were physically in front of it, performing actions such as navigating the interface, launching applications, changing settings, executing tasks directly on the device and capture screenshots if needed.
Requiring User Confirmation
Administrators can configure remote-control sessions to require approval from the device user before the session begins. To enable user confirmation for remote control:
1. Click the User Profile icon in the lower-left corner and select Account Settings.
The Account Settings window opens.
2. In the Account Settings menu, select Remote Control from the sidebar menu.
3. Click on the button Require users’ permission for remote control.

Once this option is enabled, a remote-control session will start only after the device user approves the request.
4. When initiating a remote-control session, the administrator will see a notification indicating that user approval is required.

The device user will receive a prompt asking whether to allow remote-control access.

When this setting is changed, a confirmation notification appears in the lower-right corner of the platform interface.

Step 2: Sending a Message
The Direct Message feature allows you to quickly send clear, focused notifications to a remote device. This message format includes a title and body text only and appears prominently in the center of the device screen.
Because it does not include images or multimedia elements, it is ideal for straightforward operational updates, short instructions, or time-sensitive alerts that require immediate attention without distraction.
1. Click Devices in the sidebar to open the Devices Table.
2. In the device list, locate the device to which you want to send the message.
3. In the device row, click the three-dot (kebab) menu in the far-right column and select Deploy → Direct Message.
4. In the Direct Message window, enter a title and message body.
5. Click Confirm. The message will be sent to the device.

Step 3: Checking a Device Setting – Disallow Volume Adjustment
Another simple action you can perform to confirm device management is working properly is to modify a device setting.
In this example, we will disable the user’s ability to adjust the device volume.
1. Click Devices in the sidebar to open the Devices Table.
2. Locate the device whose settings you want to modify.
3. In the device row, click the three-dot menu on the right and select Configure → Device Settings.
4. In the Device Settings Repository, click Add New to create a new device setting.
5. In the New Setting window, enter a name and description for the setting.
6. Select General from the sidebar to open the General Settings pane.
7. Scroll to the Audio section and enable Disallow Adjust Volume (the toggle turns blue). This prevents the user from adjusting the device volume.
8. Click Confirm to save the setting in the repository.
You will see a confirmation that the device setting was saved successfully.
9. Select the device setting you just created (in this example, “Deactivate Volume”) and click Apply.
Once applied, the volume controls on the device will be disabled. You can see it on the device itself from the Settings icon, or by using the Remote Control feature in the Radix Device Management Platform.

If these actions are executed successfully, the device is ready for full management through the Radix platform.
