Overview
Triggers allow you to automate actions on your devices based on predefined conditions, such as time, location, network changes, or device events.
Using triggers, you can ensure that routine tasks are performed automatically - without manual intervention - helping maintain consistency and reduce ongoing operational effort.
In this guide, we will create a scheduled trigger that runs a firmware update every Sunday at 6:00 AM, ensuring that selected devices remain up to date.
Step One: Creating a Trigger
1. In the sidebar menu, go to Automation → Schedules & Triggers.
The Schedules & Triggers repository opens:
2. Click Add New.
3. Enter a name and description.
4. Define the trigger schedule (e.g., every Sunday at 6:00 AM) and click Confirm.
The trigger will be saved in the repository.
Step Two: Assigning the Trigger to a Command
1. Open the Devices Table and select the target device.
2. From the three-dot menu, select Automate → Schedules & Triggers.
3. Enter a name for the automation.
4. Click Select Trigger and choose the trigger you created.
5. Click Select Command and choose Firmware Update.
The Schedules and Triggers command now looks as follows:
6. Click Confirm.
The command will now run automatically based on the defined schedule.
