Radix has created SCManager packages, which are service files which you install on remote devices. These service files are specific for each make of mobile device. However, Samsung devices are already provided with Samsung Knox: this is a mobile device solution provided by Samsung to secure the device’s data. Samsung Knox protects your mobile device’s data at the chip level. This obviates the need for installing an SCManager package on Samsung devices. We will demonstrate how to enroll the Viso Agent on a Samsung Android device, and some of the prompts and screens that you may encounter.
Adding an Android Device to the Radix Device Management Platform
You can add Android, Windows, and Chromebook devices to the Radix Device Management Platform. We will specifically treat how to enroll Samsung Android devices by performing a factory reset and scanning a QR code.
1. In the Radix Device Management platform, click on Devices in the sidebar menu to open the Devices Table.
2. Click on the Add Device icon in the Devices Table.
3. In the Enroll pane that opens, click on the Android icon in the sidebar menu to see Android enrolment options, and click on Enroll type to see the three enrolment methods:
Enrolling a device by scanning a QR code
You can enroll an Android device by means of scanning a QR code. This also automatically enrolls the device in the Android for Work (AFW)/Android Enterprise program, where the user of the remote device can only run apps approved by their employer.
To enroll a device by scanning a QR code:
1. Select Enroll using a QR code (AFW), and click Generate QR code:
The following screen will appear:
2. Perform a factory reset on your remote device by going to Settings>System>Reset options>Erase all data (factory reset):
3. Select Erase all data when you are prompted if you are sure that you want to perform a factory reset.
To illustrate this, the device we will be using is the Samsung Galaxy A53.
4. When the device reboots, you will see the following Welcome screen.
5. Tap the Welcome screen 6 times to open the device’s camera to be able to scan a QR code.
6. Scan the Radix QR code with your device. You will then be prompted to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
7. Alternatively, the Radix Device Management Platform user can click on the Set Wi-Fi button, and enter the Wi-Fi network’s SSID, Authentication Type, and password:
This will enter the Wi-Fi network details automatically when you scan the QR code with your Samsung device.
8. After a few minutes, you will see the following screens, informing you that your administrator will be able to monitor and manage settings on your device.
9. After clicking Accept and continue, you will receive a prompt to allow Google apps to use your location, scan for Wi-Fi networks, share usage data, etc.
10. After you click Accept, you will be prompted to review the settings. Click Agree.
11. The Viso Agent app will be automatically installed on the remote device. When installation is completed, you will see the Viso Agent icon on the device’s display.
12. We must now grant the Viso app all of the necessary permissions, so that the Radix Device Management platform will have full functionality over the Samsung device.
Go to Settings on your Samsung device, go to Apps, and select the Viso app.
13. Allow the Viso app access to files, the ability to draw on other apps, and appear on top of other apps.
14. If you don’t allow the Viso app these permissions in the Settings app, you will receive the following prompts when you run the Viso app.
15. When you tap on the Viso icon on your device, you will see the Viso Enrollment Screen.
16. Tap on Click here to enroll using the Advanced Wizard. The following screen appears, displaying your device’s Device ID:

Configuring the Viso Agent Application
Once the Radix Agent app is installed on your remote device, you may wish to configure it with a different server address and tags. You can do this from the Viso app menu.
At first, the Viso Agent app screen appears like this:
To configure the remote device:
1. Click on the three-dot (= “kebab”) menu in the upper right-hand corner and select Config Server.
The Connection Info window will open.
2. Supply your Account name, making sure that you enter the name as registered, as well as the Radix Device Management Platform server address, and click Next.
3. In the next screen, supply the identifying tags that will define the fleet to which the device belongs, and click Next. (You can add tags at a later point, either from the Viso Agent menu, or from the Radix Device Management platform.)
4. You will be prompted for a password. Supply the password, confirm it, check the box to Set Password, and click Next.
(Note: If you do not wish to add a password, leave this blank.)
5. The next page has information about the User Data Policy. Scroll to the bottom of the page, click the checkbox I Agree, and click Next.
6. On the EULA page, click the checkbox I Agree, and click Next.
7. Review your account information in the last screen and click Finish.
This should enroll the device in the Radix Device Management platform.
