Overview
A large number of devices run on the Android operating system. Whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or Smart TV, if it’s an Android device, you have several options to enroll it in the Radix Device Management Platform. We will show how to enroll an Android device by performing a factory reset and scanning a QR code.
Preliminary Steps
1. In the Radix Device Management platform, click on Devices in the sidebar menu to open the Devices Table.
2. Click on the Add Device icon in the Devices Table.

3. In the Enroll pane that opens, click on the Android icon in the sidebar menu to see Android enrolment options, and click on Enroll type to see the three enrolment methods:

Scanning the QR Code
We will demonstrate enrolling an Android device by means of scanning a QR code. This also automatically enrolls the device in the Android for Work (AFW)/Android Enterprise program, where the user of the remote device can only run apps approved by their employer.
To enroll a device by scanning a QR code:
1. Select Enroll using a QR code (AFW), and click Generate QR code:

The following screen will appear:

2. Perform a factory reset on your remote device by going to Settings>System>Reset options>Erase all data (factory reset):

3. Select Erase all data when you are prompted if you are sure that you want to perform a factory reset.

4. After wiping the device, tap the Welcome screen on the device 7 times to open the device’s camera to be able to scan a QR code.
5. Scan the QR code with your device. You will then be prompted to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
6. Alternatively, to connect to a Wi-Fi network, the Radix Device Management Platform user can click on the Set Wi-Fi button, and enter the Wi-Fi network’s SSID, Authentication Type, and password:

7. In the following screen, click Next.

8. In the next screen, click Accept & Continue.

9. The next screen notifies you that your activity will be visible to your employer, who can also set permissions on your device. Click Next.

10. The Viso Agent app will be automatically installed on the remote device, along with the appropriate SCManager file. When installation is completed, you will see the Viso Agent icon on the device’s display.

11. When you tap on the Viso icon on your device, you will see the Viso opening screen, displaying your device’s Device ID:

You will also see notifications on your remote device about installing the SCManager file and privacy options.

Supplying the Account Information
Once you have installed the Viso app on an Android device, you will see the Viso app icon.
1. Tap on the Viso app icon on your remote device.

The Viso Enrollment Screen opens:

2. Enter the account name and click Enroll. The following screen opens:

3. When you click Approve, you will get a series of screens that prompt you to allow Viso access to files, the device’s camera, the device’s location, your contacts, and draw over other apps, and the like.

Configuring the Viso Agent Application
Once the Radix Agent app is installed on your remote device, you may wish to configure it with a different server address and tags. You can do this from the Viso app menu.
At first, the Viso Agent app screen appears like this:

To configure the remote device:
1. Click on the three-dot (= “kebab”) menu in the upper right-hand corner and select Config Server.

The Connection Info window will open.

2. Supply your Account name, making sure that you enter the name as registered, as well as the Radix Device Management Platform server address, and click Next.

3. In the next screen, supply the identifying tags that will define the fleet to which the device belongs, and click Next. (You can add tags at a later point, either from the Viso Agent menu or from the Radix Device Management platform.)

4. You will be prompted for a password. Supply the password, confirm it, check the box to Set Password, and click Next.
(Note: If you do not wish to add a password, leave this blank.)

5. The next page has information about the User Data Policy. Scroll to the bottom of the page, click the checkbox I Agree, and click Next.

6. On the EULA page, click the checkbox I Agree, and click Next.

7. Review your account information in the last screen and click Finish.

8. Install the SCManager for your device, as described below in the next section. (If you are enrolling a Samsung device, you can skip installing SCManager.)
Installing the SCManager from the Device’s Settings (Optional)
The method we used above should automatically install the SCManager files on your device. The SCManager file unlocks system-level permissions for advanced features like remote control, firmware updates, and deep device analytics. However, there are also methods to install the SCManager file manually if necessary.
You can install the SCManager file either:
- Method One: From the device’s Viso Agent app settings, or
- Method Two: By downloading and installing the SCManager file specific to your remote device from the Radix website.
Method One: From the device’s Viso Agent app settings:
1. Click on the Viso icon to start the Viso Agent app and click on the kebab menu in the upper right corner.

2. In the drop-down menu, select Settings. The Settings window opens.

3. In the list of settings, click on Find SCManager. It will automatically find the correct SCManager file for your Android device.
4. Once you have found the correct SCManager file, click on Download.

The SCManager will then be installed automatically.

5. You will receive confirmation that the installation was successful.

Method Two: Downloading the SCManager from the Radix Website
1. Click here for the repository of all the SCManager files.
2. You will see the option SCManager detector. This option will help you find the appropriate SCManager file for your remote Android Device. (Samsung and Sony device users can ignore this stage). This step is optional, but important. Click on the SCManager Detector link to download the SCManager detector file.

After the installation of the SCManager file is complete, your device should appear in the Radix Device Management platform within 30 seconds. If it is not visible, click Refresh on your browser tab, and look for the newly installed device in the Devices Table:

Note the green clock icon on the line of the device in the “Last Seen” column. This indicates that the device is indeed online.
